Presidents' Day is a holiday that roots back to 180, when George Washington's birthday (February 22nd) was declared a "perennial day of remembrance". In 1885, it wasestablished as a federal holiday called "Washington's Birthday". In 1971, the holiday was moved to the third Monday of every February as part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which aimed at increasing the number of three-day weekends given to workers across the nation. With this change, the day would forever be between Abraham Lincoln's birthday (February 12th) and Washington's. When this change came to being, many people started calling the holiday "Presidents' Day", but it is still officially called "Washington's Birthday" by the federal government.
